Profile

Get my profile

profile_get

Purpose
Read the user's profile, part by part, with the rules for a tailored resume or letter.
When
Before you tailor a resume or cover letter, or when the user asks what their profile holds.
Rules
Follow the resume rules that come back with it before you write anything. An empty part means the user has not filled it in; say so and point to the site. Never add a fact the profile or the user did not give.
Next
Read the ad with search_posting, ask the user about the gaps that matter, then write.
Cost
About 1410 tokens for a filled profile.

Input

Takes no input.

Output

NameTypeValuesDescription
profilerequiredanyThe profile document, section by section, as searchnapply stores it.
resumeRulesrequiredarray of stringThe rules to follow when writing a tailored resume or cover letter, one rule per line.
messagestringPresent when the profile is empty: where the user fills it in.

Update my profile

profile_update

Purpose
Replace whole parts of the user's profile with what the user asked to change.
When
The user asks you to add, fix or remove something in their profile; never on your own.
Rules
Show the user the new text and write only after they agree. A part you send replaces the stored one in full, so send every entry it keeps, with the ids profile_get gave. A part name outside the ten is refused.
Next
Tell the user what was saved; read the profile again only if they ask.
Cost
About 1410 tokens for the profile that comes back.

Input

NameTypeValuesDescription
sectionsrequiredobjectThe profile parts to replace, each in the shape profile_get returns it.
sections.userInfoobjectName and headline, as the profile's userInfo carries them.
sections.contactsobjectEmail, phone and location, as the profile's contacts carry them.
sections.summaryobjectThe summary text and the about-me text, as the profile's summary carries them.
sections.skillsobjectThe skill items, as the profile's skills carry them.

"text": "Backend engineer with ten years of distributed systems work."
    }
  }
}

Output

changedrequiredarray of stringThe sections that were written.

Monitor

Create a job monitor

monitor_create

Purpose
Save a search as a monitor that keeps collecting matching job ads for the user.
When
Only when the user asks to be kept informed about a search.
Rules
A title and one real place are required. A monitor starts with the ads that already match; datePosted narrows that start to recent ones. The same search saved twice is refused, naming the call that finds the first.
Next
Call monitor_get later to see what the monitor collected.
Cost
About 160 tokens for the saved monitor.

Input

NameTypeValuesDescription
titleTextrequiredstringWords of the job title, matched to one of searchnapply's known roles when one fits (resolvedRole.display names it), which the monitor then watches, and otherwise matched against ad titles.

When
After the user says they sent an application, declines an ad, or wants a declined or handled ad back.

Search

Search job postings

search_postings

Purpose
Find job ads that fit the user's role, place and filters, one summary per ad.
When
The user describes work they want; gather a role and a place first.
Rules
Ask before searching when the role or the place is missing. A summary is short, so read the ads the user picks in full with search_posting. Report only what came back; never invent an ad, pay or an employer.
Next
Follow the hint when one is present, then offer search_posting for the ads the user picks.
Cost
About 170 tokens per ad and 3020 for 20 ads.

Input

NameTypeValuesDescription
titleTextstringWords of the job title, matched to one of searchnapply's known roles when one fits (resolvedRole.display names it) and otherwise matched against ad titles.
